Cybercrime against women is the fastest-growing threat to people & businesses worldwide, according to Chennai. The Cyber Crime Against Women Conference, 2023 was recently held in the city to raise awareness of the emerging risks. The ceremony was opened by T Mano Thangaraj, Minister of Information Technology and Digital Services for the Tamil Nadu government. Women's Safety in Social Media, IT Act for Cyber Crime against Women, Cyber Crime Challenges for Women in the Corporate World, and Data Protection Under Cyber Security Against Women were among the topics presented at the summit.

Cyber security for women's security

Furthermore present were C Maheswari, IPS, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Central Crime Branch, Greater Chennai Police, and A S Kumari, Chairperson of the Tamil Nadu State Women's Commission. Experts discussed how the rise of data networks, digital apps, internet users, and mobile users also raises the potential for cybercrime and exploitation. One of the experts stated, "Even a tiny mistake in data security or poor social networking can prove to be incredibly damaging. The talks included how we view digital space and security, critically evaluating the consequences of cyber security for women's security.

Limits of cybercrime

They made sure to emphasise the limits of cybercrime, how to secure our society, and the best practises for safeguarding our digital critical infrastructure, where the sensitivity of the data is crucial.

"It's crucial to protect our internet accounts from hackers and unauthorised users who want to distribute viruses or launch social engineering campaigns to steal data and even money. These kinds of problems demonstrate the need of cyber security as a strategy for safeguarding data and avoiding its improper use, they said.
